LIVERPOOL — Richard A. Landis, 73, of Liverpool, entered into rest after a brief illness on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
He was born Aug. 21, 1939, in Perry Township, Snyder County, a son of the late Myron J. and Martha E. (Straub) Landis. On June 24, 1961, he married the former Cora M. Dressler, who survives. His passing breaks a loving marital union of 51 years.
Richard was a veteran of the Air Force.
He retired from the Operating Engineers Union.
Richard was a member of American Legion Post 364, Liverpool; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1173, Selinsgrove, and the Hunters Valley Sportsman’s Association, and was a lifetime member of the Oriental Valley Sportsman’s Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Richard A. Landis II, of Mechanicsburg; six brothers and sisters and their spouses, Lorraine and Donald Lauver, of Mount Pleasant Mills, Donald E. and Michelle Landis, of Enola, Ruth Ann and William Rapp, of Mount Pleasant Mills, Carlton E. Landis, Bonnie Goff, of Staunton, Va., and Terry and Jamie Landis, of Middleburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded by one sister, Cathy Landis.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills, followed by the funeral at 2 with interim Pastor John E. Lee officiating.
Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran and Reformed Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Mills.
