DANVILLE — Elisabeth M. Krohn, 87, of Villa Street, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Maria Hall in Danville.
She was born Feb. 3, 1927, in Gross Mühlwalde, East Prussia, Germany, a daughter of the late Berta (Bartke) and Hermann Hegner.
She completed regular school and a professional school in Neuhausen, Germany.
Elisabeth worked as a housemaid and cook in Germany, then after coming to the United States, she worked in area silk mills before retiring in the late 1970s.
Elisabeth was devoted to her husband of 43 years, Donald Krohn, who preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1996. They met and married in Aschaffenburg, West Germany.
She enjoyed traveling, playing bingo and doing puzzles along with various outings with her circle of German friends. Elisabeth also enjoyed going to the Catskills for Schlachtfest.
She is survived by her son, Ray Krohn, of Danville; three grandchildren, Sandy, Ray II and Heather; and two great-grandchildren, Winter and Nicholas.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Erich, and two sisters, Ella and Hedwig.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge, with the Rev. Melody Sell officiating.
