WATSONTOWN — Lewis E. “Lew” Werner, 83, of Main Street, passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at Manor Care North after being a patient for five days.
He was born Aug. 9, 1929, in Watsontown, a son of the late Harold P. and Helen (Garnhart) Werner. He was married to the former Jean E. Wertz and would have celebrated 63 years of marriage on March 4.
Lew graduated from Watsontown High School.
He was the owner of Werner’s School & Charter Bus Service and Werner Hereford Farm.
He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Delaware Run, a member of the Watsontown Masonic Lodge 401, the Williamsport Consistory, and Zafar Grotto, South Williamsport.
Lew was an avid hunter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie J. and Dan Watson, of Montoursville; five sons and daughters-in-law, Gary L. and Cindy Werner, of Texas, Steven L. and Brenda Werner, of Mount Pleasant Mills, Gerald P. and Debbie Werner, of Watsontown, Jeffrey E. and Karen Werner, of Muncy and Ronnie L. Werner, of Lewisburg; nine grandchildren, Melinda Rodarmel, Ryan Watson, Stephanie Duffie, Allison Reeder and Casey, Lewis, Chad, Jennifer, Amelia Werner; and 11 great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by one son, Scott E. Werner in 1959.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with a Masonic service at 5:45 at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, with his pastor, the Rev. Jill Seagle, officiating.
Burial will follow in Turbotville Cemetery.
