Ardith A. Ruhl, 71, Sunbury

SUNBURY — Ardith A. Ruhl, 71, of Vine Street, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the SUN Home Hospice Care Center, Sunbury.

She was born July 20, 1941, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Harold E. and Grace T. (Hummel) Young. On Aug. 30, 1958, she married Clifford M. “Butch” Ruhl, who preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 2001.

Ardith attended Northumberland High School.

She had been employed for more than 20 years as a nurse’s aide at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.

She was an active member of the Northumberland-Point Township Senior Action Center.

For many years, she enjoyed camping and traveling in the family camper and playing bingo. She also spent her free time knitting, crocheting and playing cards. Ardith’s most enjoyable times came when she was spending time with her family.

She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Peggy Sue Ruhl, of Sunbury, and Mary Lou and Jeffrey Carvell, of Richfield; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Harry E. Ruhl, of Sunbury, Clifford M. Jr. and Carol Ruhl, of Sunbury, and Dale R. and Polly Ruhl, of Northumberland; 12 grandchildren, Sharon, Nathan, Brandon, Amanda, Danielle and her husband, Jason, Terry, Seth, Chad, Madison, Sara, Cody and Kyle; four great grandchildren, Aubrey, Xavier, Jadan and Ariana; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Dorothy Mae and Walter Swank, of Northumberland, Mary Helen and Leonard Neidig and Linda Young, all of Sunbury.

She was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Betty Ruhl, and one sister, J. Joann Snyder.

Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Buffalo Valley United Methodist Church, 940 Johnson Mill Road, Lewisburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Daniel H. Hicks officiating.

Burial will be in Winfield Cemetery.

Contributions in Ardith’s memory may be made to SUN Home Health and Hospice, 61 Duke St., Northumberland, PA 17857.

Arrangements are by the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland.
