WEST HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP — Lydia Jo Starr, 27, of West Hempfield Township, passed away in her mother’s arms on Friday, May 10, 2013, at Hershey Medical Center after a 14½-year battle with brain cancer.
She was born Oct. 3, 1985, a daughter of Joni (Fisher) and John Starr.
Lydia was a 2004 graduate of Hempfield High School and attended Hiram Andrews in Johnstown and Acadia Center in Lancaster, where many of her friends attend. While in high school, she was active in marching band, concert band and chorus and interned with Intermediate Unit 13.
Lydia touched many people with her sense of humor and unbelievable will to live.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her loving sister, Nicole (Starr) Hollinger, wife of Shawn, of Lebanon; grandparents, Judy Wolfe, of Selinsgrove, and Howard and Julie Fisher, of New Cumberland; stepgrandmother, Mary Starr, of Kissimmee, Fla.; aunts and uncles, Kii and Kim Fisher, of Shamokin Dam, Terri and Tom Heimbach, of Kratzerville, Ron and Heather Wolfe, of Charlotte, N.C., Anne Starr and Rick Shafer, of Selinsgrove, and Barbara Starr, of Selinsgrove; and great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins throughout the country.
Lydia loved family, family gatherings, holidays, the Beatles, especially Ringo, Dance Marathon, yellow roses, good friends and good laughs.
Our family would like to thank the countless doctors, nurses and staff of Hershey Medical Center for their devotion to Lydia.
