HERNDON — John E. “Marlin” Cotner, 73, of Herndon, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at SUN Home Hospice Care Center, Sunbury.
He was born Aug. 3, 1939, in Sunbury, a son of the late Anna (Wise) and Marlin R. Cotner. He was married for 49 years to the former Sandra Eyster, who survives.
He was a 1958 graduate of Mahanoy Joint High School and served in the Army for three years.
John had retired from Motor Truck Equipment Co. and Michael Foods.
He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ of Urban and the Herndon Fire Company.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Steven Sheer, of Boca Raton, Fla.; one granddaughter, Madison Sheer, and one grandson, Jaxon Sheer, of Florida; one sister, Barbara Sluga; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Terry Cotner.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Urban, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Tom Degnitz and Pastor Robert Reich officiating.
Interment will take place in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Urban.
