CARLISLE — Dorothy Jean Byers, 82, of Carlisle, formerly of Milton, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at her home.
She was born June 3, 1931, in Catawissa, a daughter of the late Robert and Alice Miller. She was married to Fred Byers, who preceded her in death.
She graduated from the Empire Beauty School, Sunbury.
Dorothy owned her own beauty shop in Milton for 23 years.
She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Deborah Girton, of Carlisle; one daughter, Cheryl Blass and partner, Wayne Levan, of Catawissa; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Margaret and William James, of Danville, Shirley Eveland, of White Deer, and Rosemary Loss, of Middleburg; one stepdaughter, Deb Greenly and husband, Bob, of Milton; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Greg Girton, and one sister, Phyllis Miller.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
The Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
