LEWISBURG — Robert Carl “Bob” Aikey, 48, of 120 N. 15th St., passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, while hunting in Cambria County at his hunting camp.
A native of Union County, he was born Aug. 29, 1965, in Lewisburg, the son of Sandy (Rice) Aikey, of Lewisburg, and the late John Aikey, who preceded him in death Jan. 6, 2011. On Feb. 9, 2009, he married the former Rose Marie Shirk, and his death breaks a marital union of almost five years.
Bob was a 1983 graduate of Lewisburg Area High School and SUN Area Vocational-Technical School, where he studied autobody.
He had been employed at Pennsylvania House for 20 years and at the time of his passing was working at ConAgra, Milton.
He was a member of the 40&8, Milton, and the sportsman’s clubs of Weikert and Patton.
Bob loved spending time at his cabin hunting and fishing and making trips to New York for salmon fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his grandmother, Arlene Rice, of Lewisburg; two stepdaughters, Marra Smith, of Winfield, and Meggan Smith, of White Deer; two grandchildren, Bryce and Marley; two sisters and brother-in-law, Arlene Aikey, of Lewisburg, and JoAnne and Steve Brown, of Milton; four sisters-in-law, Linda “Bubba” Delaney, Deanna Abeed, Mary Calhoun and her husband, Carl, and Jenny Shirk, all of the Lock Haven area; and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
