He passed away suddenly on Nov. 11, 2013; he was 42 years old. He married his beloved wife, Colleen (Keeney) LaFerrara, on June 11, 2011, after an eight-year relationship. They had no children.
Troy grew up in Port Trevorton, and after high school, he attended Pennsylvania State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He then went on to earn his Professional Engineer’s License, his Professional Land Surveyor’s License and his Sewage Enforcement Officer License. In addition to his regular job, Troy served on the Chapman-Union Sewage Authority and was a member of the Port Trevorton township board for a short time in 2010-11, serving as roadmaster.
Troy was an avid hunter and could be found in the woods during hunting season. He enjoyed both archery and rifle seasons and would spend days and weeks getting ready for the season. In addition to hunting, Troy enjoyed trap shoots and sporting clay shoots with his friends on the weekends. When Troy was not hunting, you could almost always find him watching a hunting show or target shooting with his bow or rifle.
