PENNS CREEK — Evelyn Mae Sampsell, 94, of 401 Chestnut St., for the past four years, formerly of 14 N. Fifth St., Mifflinburg since 1953, entered into rest at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born Feb. 28, 1920, in Mifflinburg, a daughter of the late Ray and Pearl (Beck) Hoffman. On April 18, 1938, she married LeRoy J. Sampsell who preceded her in death June 28, 1994.
Evelyn attended the Rand School, Mifflinburg.
Earlier in life, she was employed at the Huntington Throwing Mill, Mifflinburg.
Evelyn enjoyed attending auctions with her husband.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, David L. and Annette Sampsell, of Penns Creek; one granddaughter, Heather Sampsell, of Penns Creek; one great-grandson, Cameron Wolfe; and one sister-in-law, Rosella Hoffman, of Mifflinburg.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest, Charles, and Kenneth Hoffman; and two sisters, Alma Reed and Sara Bowersox.
Family and friends are welcome from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 with the Rev. Ricky Phillips, officiating.
Burial will be in the Hartleton Cemetery.
