SELINSGROVE — John C. Wilson Jr., 58, of 304 S. High St., passed away unexpectedly at 6:52 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born Jan. 2, 1955, in Sunbury, the son of the late John C. Sr. and Helen (Fenton) Wilson. On June 23, 1984, he married the former Beverly A. Troup, who survives.
John was a 1973 graduate of Selinsgrove High School and received an associate degree in journalism from Williamsport Area Community College in 1975.
He retired in December after 35 years of service in the maintenance department of the Selinsgrove Area School District.
He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Selinsgrove, and a life member of the Dauntless Hook & Ladder Fire Company, Selinsgrove, where he was active in its fire police. He was a founding member of the Susquehanna Ridge Runners Club. He did security work at the Selinsgrove, Port Royal and Clinton County speedways.
John enjoyed doing model rocketry and racing, particularly NASCAR.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, John C. Wilson III, of Selinsgrove; his mother-in-law, Clarine Troup, of Port Trevorton; one brother-in-law, Daniel Troup, of Port Trevorton; sister-in-law and her husband, Sheila and Ray Rowe, of Selinsgrove; and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by one nephew.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, followed by the funeral at 11 with Lay Minister Carl Rowe officiating.
Burial will be in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury.
