Ronald W. “Highpockets” Aucker, 72, Middleburg

— MIDDLEBURG — Ronald W. “Highpockets” Aucker, 72, of 3283 Smalsh Barrick Road, passed away early Saturday afternoon, Feb. 23, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer.

He was born Jan. 2, 1941, in Port Trevorton, a son of the late John and Wilma (Trevitz) Aucker. On Dec. 24, 1958, he married the former Barbara E. Dreese who survives.

Ronald attended the Lower Herrolds and Selinsgrove schools.

His employment history included Ulsh’s and Kellers Marine, both of Port Trevorton, Asplundh Tree Service, ButterKrust Bakery, Sunbury after which he operated Ron and Ray’s Atlantic Service in Freeburg. He was a mechanic and body man for Halls Trucking, Branch Motor Freight and Sunny Hill Farms. He retired in 2011 from Eastern Industries after more than 20 years of service.

Ronald was a member of Hummel’s United Methodist Church, Middleburg, Lodge 194 Free and Accepted Masons, Selinsgrove, the Williamsport Consistory, a life member of the Kratzerville Fire Company, a member of the Union County Sportsman’s Club, the Hemlock Hunting Lodge, Oswago Rod and Gun Club, and the Ridge Runners Hunting Club.

He was an avid hunter and was well known in the area and surrounding states for his involvement in pony pulling. Ron enjoyed flowers and was a very generous man who loved giving and doing for others. He raised sweet corn and made sauerkraut and carmel corn which he gave away to family and friends.

In addition to his wife of 54 years, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin E. and Tina Aucker, of Selinsgrove; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy J. and Dale Hassinger, Kaylene L. and Shawn Andrulewicz, all of Selinsgrove, and Kimberly A. and Dean Walter, of Middleburg; three grandchildren, Tabitha L. Spickler and husband Christopher, Scott M. and Austin M. Lenig; two great-grandchildren, Kevin and Alexis Spickler; two brothers, Robert Aucker, of Selinsgrove, and Barry Aucker and wife, Arlene, of Port Trevorton; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Helen Zimmerman, of Harrisburg, Marjorie Hoover, of Port Trevorton, and Carol and Robert Gaugler, of Selinsgrove; stepsister, Arlene Aucker, of Port Trevorton; stepbrother, Glenn Dressler and wife, Fern, of Selinsgrove; and two sisters-in-law, Rose Aucker, of Port Trevorton and Vicki Dressler, of Danville; and Barbara’s family who Ronald was very close to, D. Ronald and Nancy Dreese, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Susan and James Gill and Linda and Tom Smith, all of Middleburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Aucker; stepbrother, Marlin Dressler; sister-in-law, Jane Aucker; and one brother-in-law, David Zimmerman; his stepfather- Elmer Dressler.

Friends and family will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday with a Masonic service with Lodge 194 at 9 p.m. at the V.L. Seelbold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Carvel K. May officiating.

Burial will be in Erdley’s Church Cemetery, Middleburg.
