LEWISBURG — Donald G. Gearhart, 73, of 3503 New Berlin Mountain Road, passed away at 6:57 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, in the emergency room at Evangelical Community Hospital.
He was born Sept. 17, 1939, in Middlecreek Township, Snyder County, a son of the late Marshall and Enetha (Conley) Gearhart. On Sept. 12, 1959, he married the former Ethel C. Hollenbach, who survives.
Donald attended Mifflinburg High School.
He was a farmer as well as working at Pennsylvania House, PennDOT, and Thor Industries.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Lewisburg.
He enjoyed hunting and farming, as well as butchering which he did for many families throughout the area. The great joy of his life were his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife, is one son and daughter-in-law, Larry G. and Ruth Gearhart, of McClure; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna K. and Bob Simonetti, of Harrisburg, Patsy J. and William Lash, of McClure, and Betty A. and William Wright, of McClure; six grandchildren, Bobby and Chastity Simonetti, Kaydee and Emily Gearhart, Nikki Lash, and Casey Wright; four great-grandchildren, Austin, Nickalus, Nevaeh, and Athyn, and a great-granddaughter Samantha, who is expected soon; one brother, Robert Gearhart, of Mifflinburg; and one sister, Julia Moyer, of Lewisburg.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Samantha Wright; and two brothers, Charles Gearhart and Jack Moyer.
At his request, there will be no funeral services.
Arrangements are by the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg.
