Marlin L. "Dick" Haubert Jr., 72, Richfield

— RICHFIELD — Marlin L. “Dick” Haubert Jr., 72, of Richfield, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was the husband of Shirley M. (Coldren) Haubert, to whom he was married 52 years. Marlin was born on June 8, 1941, in Richfield, a son of Irene (Graybill) Haubert of Mount Pleasant Mills and the late Marlin L. “Buzz” Haubert Sr.

He was a 1959 graduate of Middleburg Joint High School. Early in Marlin’s life he was a dairy farmer and helped his father-in-law Bill Coldren with carpentry. He loved to farm and enjoyed raising chickens, turkeys, and hogs for a time. He then worked at Moore Business Forms, Lewisburg and Beavertown Knitting Mills, Selinsgrove. Marlin along with his son Curtis operated Ridge Road Garage. He later retired and did hauling for S.V. Woodcraft, Port Trevorton for 15 years, and hauled produce for Carl Wenger. He enjoyed giving candy to the Mennonite children and got a big smile from them when he blew his “train” horn.

He was a member of the Pine Grove Methodist Church, Mifflintown, the Richfield Fire Company and Ambulance League.

Marlin enjoyed reading his Bible daily, woodworking, and spending time talking with his many friends at the garage. He was a loving caring husband, and father.

In addition to his wife and mother, Marlin is survived by a son, Curtis L. “Curt” Haubert, of Richfield; a sister and brother-in-law, Gloria Jean and Barry Leister, of Mount Pleasant Mills; two nieces, Pamela Kerstetter and her husband Brian, of Mount Pleasant Mills, and Crystal Crissman and her husband Chantz, of Richfield; seven great-nieces and nephews; a great-great-niece, and an aunt, Ida Leitzel, of Mount Pleasant Mills.

Friends and family are invited to the viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, followed by the funeral service at 8 p.m., all from the George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills. Officiating will be Pastor Aaron Benner.

Burial will be private in Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in loving memory of Marlin to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
