NORTHUMBERLAND — Gregory A. Sechrist, 67, of Dreese Road, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at the SUN Home Hospice Care Center, Sunbury.
Greg was born Aug. 17, 1946, in Sunbury, the son of the late Mark A. and Wilma W. (Shirk) Sechrist. On July 24, 1970, he married the former Barbara E. Eister, who survives.
He was a 1965 graduate of Northumberland High School. Following graduation, he served six years in the National Guard.
Greg retired after 34 years of service from PPL, now Wisconsin Power Service, Shamokin Dam, in the instruments and controls room.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ridge Road, Northumberland, and a member of the Sunbury Social Club and the Norry Gun Club.
Greg was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, being in the mountains, scuba diving and woodworking. Earlier in life, he drove stock cars at the Selinsgrove Speedway. He was a NASCAR fan who followed Kyle Busch.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Nikki and Jim Kadryna and twins, Heidi and Heather Sechrist, all of Northumberland; three grandchildren, twins, Isabella and Olivia, and Alexander Kadryna; three sisters, Suzanne Eskridge and Cynthia Lawson, both of Salisbury, Md., and Lori Fisher, of Houston, Texas; one stepsister, Yvonne Williams, of Sunbury; numerous nieces and nephews; and his mother-in-law, Mary E. Eister, of Northumberland.
Friends and family may visit from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland, followed by a memorial service at 11 with the Rev. D. Elinor Allison officiating.
