— SHAMOKIN DAM — Rhoda M. “Nan” Brandt, 87, of Shamokin Dam, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born Nov. 1, 1925, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Clair A. and Maude L. (Reibsame) Shellenberger. She was married to Chester F. Brandt, who preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1965.

Rhoda was employed at Geisinger Medical Center in the laundry department, retiring in 1990.

She loved her animals, especially her cats and dog, Jo Jo Bear. She enjoyed flower gardening and playing solitaire. Most of all she enjoyed being with family and her grandchildren.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Chester F. and Maria S. Brandt, of Shamokin Dam; three grandchildren, Ryan and wife Lauryn, Andrew and Alana; and one great-grandchild, Jace.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Edward Shellenberger; and one sister, LaRue Clement.

Friends will be received from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home Inc., 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Gunter, of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Sunbury, officiating.
