MILTON — Norman O. Brouse Sr., 92, of Boiardi Lane, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was born Sept. 8, 1921, in White Springs, Union County, a son of the late Homer Ray and Sally (Gessner) Brouse. He was married to the former Ruth Smith, and his death breaks a marital union of 69 years.
Norman was a veteran of World War II, serving in 12th Armored Division of the Army.
He had worked for D&G Feed Mill and farmed on the Brouse farm south of Milton. He also had worked for DOW Plumbing before starting his own plumbing business in the late 1970s.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Charity Lodge 144, Free & Accepted Masons, and American Legion Post 182, all of Lewisburg.
Norman enjoyed woodworking, gardening and wintering in Florida with his wife.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Norman Jr. and Mary Brouse, of Lewisburg, James and Cynthia Brouse, Ray and Lisa Brouse and Jeffrey and Tammy Brouse, all of Milton, and Timothy and Nancy Brouse, of Shamokin Dam; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Brouse, of Milton, and Richard Brouse, of West Milton; and four sisters, Anna Hague, of Chicago, Charlotte Neitz, Seleca Robenolt, and Shirley Roush, all of Milton.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren; three brothers, Charles, Robert and George Brouse; and one sister, Esther Fisher.
Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church, 2349 Old Turnpike Road, Lewisburg, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Gregory A. Kramer officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Dreisbach Cemetery, Lewisburg.
The family will provide flowers and asks that contributions in Norman’s memory be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 2349 Old Turnpike Road, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
Arrangements are under the care of the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton.
