Gloria “Lollie” Rothermel, 71, Herndon

— HERNDON — Gloria “Lollie” Rothermel, 71, of Herndon, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at the SUN Home Hospice Care Center, Sunbury. She was a lifetime resident of the Herndon area.

She was born April 29, 1942, in Herndon, a daughter of the late Ray C. and Lena M. (Hepner) Long. In 1979, she married Guy S. Rothermel who preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 1997.

Gloria was a 1960 graduate of Mahanoy Joint High School.         

She worked at the former Dew Drop Restaurant, Mandata, Mandata Poultry, and the Dalmatia Blouse factory.

Gloria was of the Protestant faith and was a member of the Lower Northumberland County Senior Action Center. She enjoyed farming, gardening, sewing and cooking and had a special love for animals.

She is survived by one brother, James Long, of RR Herndon; her nephew and caregiver, Jeremiah R. Long and wife, Jamie  A., of RR Herndon; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Adelia Susannah Rebuck; and one sister, Patricia L. Fine.

A visitation with the family will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, followed by a memorial service at 11 with the Rev. Richard Sweppenhiser officiating.

Burial will follow in the Herndon Cemetery.

 In lieu of flowers, contributions may in Gloria’s memory may be made to SUN Home Health and Hospice, 61 Duke St., P.O. Box 232, Northumberland, PA 17857.
