NORTHUMBERLAND — Lisa L. (Bunting) Forbes, 55, of Prince Street, was surrounded by her loved ones when she was ushered into her heavenly home on Sunday, May 12, 2013.
She graced the lives of Richard D. and Mary C. Bunting, of Northumberland, on April 24, 1958, in Sunbury. On Oct. 23, 2007, she married her devoted and loving husband, Robert C. Forbes III.
Lisa was a 1976 graduate of Shikellamy High School.
Prior to her courageous battle with cancer, she was employed at Evangelical Community Hospital as a certified pharmacy technician. While at Evan, she worked with lifelong friends who faithfully supported her during her illness.
She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Selinsgrove. It was her faith and close relationships with Father Ted Keating and Father Dan Powell and the love of family and friends that sustained her through this difficult journey.
Lisa was the ultimate giver. It was the joy of her life to serve others, whether it be to prepare a meal or bake a specialty cake for your birthday. She was gifted in her culinary skills and passionate about crocheting, growing roses and photography. She loved floating in her pool, riding in her convertible and hopping on the back of her husband’s Harley. She was a fan of Phil Collins and was quick-witted like her father.
Her greatest happiness was spending time with her children, Lawrence C. Weiser Jr., Jennie Rose, both of Northumberland, and her stepdaughter, Tricia A. Hollenbach, of Middleburg.
Lisa is survived by not only her husband and children and stepgrandchild, Kelsey V. Hollenbach, but also her parents and in-laws, Robert Forbes Jr. and wife, Barb, of Northumberland; an aunt, Nancy Stella, of Wildwood, N.J.; a loving brother, Richard D. Bunting Jr. and his wife, Cindy, and their children, Brittany Specht and husband, Craig, Richie and Joey and her sidekick, George, the Cockapoo. Lisa was cared for by not only her family and many close friends, but also the nurses of Evangelical Hospice..
Those awaiting her at the Gates of Heaven were her beloved “Mom-Mom”, Jennie Rose Zitto, who preceded her in death, also on Mother’s Day Weekend in 2010. Standing close by were her uncles, John Zitto and Vince Stella, her cousin, Lou Ann Grissinger, and her mother-in-law, Marjorie L. Forbes.
Friends and family may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Pius X Catholic Church, 112 Fairview Drive, Selinsgrove, with Father Daniel Powell as celebrant.
Burial will be in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.
In addition to the proceeds from the Shikellamy Strike Out Cancer softball game in Lisa’s honor, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Pam Foresman East Central Division, American Cancer Society, Inc., 1420 N. Susquehanna Trail, Selinsgrove, PA 17870, or Evangelical Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837, or to St. Pius X Catholic Church, 112 Fairview Drive, Selinsgrove, PA 17870.
