HERNDON — Doris H. “Doddie” Kuder, 81, of Herndon, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born Nov. 6, 1931, in Chicago, Ill., a daughter of the late Donald Ayers and Virginia (Rothert) Harper. On July 1, 1975, in Tewksbury Township, N.J., she married Reid G. Kuder who preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 1990. she was a resident of the Herndon area since 1978 and formerly lived in Califon, N.J.
Doddie was a graduate of High Bridge High School, New Jersey and Centenary College, New Jersey, and Beaver College in Pennsylvania.
Doddie was a homemaker and enjoyed her organizations.
She was a member of Peifer’s Evangelical Church, Herndon. Organizations include the Evangelical Seminary, the Mahanoy and Mahantongo Historical and Preservation Society, the Kiwanis International, Habitat for Humanity, founder of the Line Mountain Arts Council, benefactor of the SUN Home Hsopice, and befriended the Ned Smith Center.
The joys of her life were her children and grandchildren, entertaining friends, her many local charitable endeavors, creating artistic displays and floral arrangements, the Harrisburg Symphony and gardening.
She is survived by her children, Wilson H. Ihling, of Reading, Kan., Kimberley S. Wolfe, of Herndon, Reid S. Kuder, of Flemington, Keith J. Kuder, of Vinton, Va., and Kristine K. Merritt, of Virginia Beach, Va.; her grandchildren, Kaitlin a. Wolfe, Faith M. Wolfe, Jennifer L. Kuder and Michael T. Kuder; and her cousin, Margaret M. Becht.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Peifer’s Evangelical Church, Mandata Road, Herndon, with Pastor Bradley Hatter and Pastor Richard Sweppenhiser officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Doddie’s memory may be made to Peifer’s Evangelical Church, P.O. Box 387, Herndon, PA 17830.
