— McCLURE — Katherine M. Spaid, 96, of Back Mountain Road, passed away at 10:03 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.

She was born Nov. 12, 1916, in Millmont, a daughter of the late James F. and Mabel (Snook) Fenten. On Aug. 31, 1940, she married James “Jim” Spaid, who preceded her in death on July 10, 1980.

Katherine attended school in Hartleton.

She previously was employed at the Laurelton State Village and the Selinsgrove Center as an aide and later worked as a waitress at the Lewisburg Hotel and Snook’s Restaurant and also was a Stanley Home Products dealer.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Reformed Church, Beavertown, where she taught Sunday school.

Katherine enjoyed knitting, playing bingo and going out to eat and was well known for her Saturday morning cinnamon rolls and homemade bread. Earlier in life, she enjoyed traveling to Florida with her husband during the winter months.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, J. Dan and Barb Spaid, of Smithsburg, Md.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy K. and Ralph Goss, of McClure, and Dixie L. and Terry Seler, of San Antonio, Texas; nine grandchildren, Warren Spaid, Christopher Spaid, Michelle Mong, Ginger Galliher, Jim Goss, Ray Raymos, Lynn “Bud” Baker Jr., Craig Baker and Jamie Linthicum; eight stepgrandchildren, Rodney Furgison, Dawn Furlong, David Seler, Barbara Seler, Christiana Smith, Alexis Smith, Shandi Linthicum and Axel Linthicum; 12 great-grandchildren, Allyson Spaid, Gabriella Spaid, Erika Mong, Aaron Mong, Laura Galliher, Kaitlyn Galliher, Morgan Goss, Paige Goss, Lily Goss, Wyatt Mellott, Dustin Baker and Evan Linthicum; four great-great-grandchildren, Rex, Mack James, Severin and Malakai; and three sisters, Helen Ritter, of Sunbury, June Boop, of Lewisburg, and Mae Free, of Harrisburg.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel and Nevin Hackenburg, and one sister, Arla Snyder.

Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 11 to noon Wednesday at the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, followed by the funeral at noon with the Rev. Carl Bergerson officiating.

Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Beavertown.
