RIVERSIDE — Richard C. Carper, 58, of Riverside, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on April 20, 1955, in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Charles and Margaret (Hartman) Carper.
After graduating from Columbia Montour Vocational Techinal School, he worked in the auto body repair industry for more than sixteen years.
Richard retired from Norfolk Southern as a railroad engineer after more than 26 years of service.
In his spare time, he enjoyed working on restoring cars and was a talented woodworker.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, the former Gail Force; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Tom and Candi Carper, of Selinsgrove and David Carper, of Paxinos; two daughters and one son-in-law, Erin and Jon Tressler, of Snydertown and Melissa Carper, of Riverside; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ian, Aidan and Makenzi; as well as one great granddaughter, Kyleigh; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark and Debra Carper, of Danville and Jerry and Barb Carper, of Virginia.
Friends may call from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Brady Funeral Home, 320 Church Street, Danville, followed by the funeral at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Pat Pittsnogle officiating.
