COAL TOWNSHIP — Wanda H. Gribbin, 86, of 1145 E. Webster St., passed away at 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at her home. She was a resident of Coal Township for 61 years.
She was born Feb. 22, 1927, in Camden, N.J., the daughter of the late I. John and Sophia (Rakowski) Sarnowski. On May 5, 1948, in St. Edward Church, Shamokin, she married James A. Gribbin, who preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1995.
She was a 1945 graduate of Coal Township High School.
Wanda was a homemaker.
She was a member of the former St. Edward Church, now Mother Cabrini Church, Shamokin, the Sunflower Club, the Holy Name Society and the Catholic Daughters of America.
She is survived by four children, Cecile Quick, of Northumberland, Dona Bersbach and husband, Scott, of San Bernadino, Calif., James F. Gribbin Sr. and his companion, Stephanie Colacitti, of Shamokin, and Maggie A. Keppel and her companion, Chad R. Scudder, of Williamsport; 12 grandchildren, Michele Smith, Kimberly Emerich, Scott C. Quick, Delee Shields, Renee Bersbach, Erin Kizer, Jami Westland, Tamara Bersbach Hunt, Robert J. Bersbach, James F. Gribbin Jr., Joyce A. McLaughlin and Alexander Augustine Colacetti Gribbin; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a Christian vigil service at 6, and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home Ltd., 120 S. Market St., Shamokin. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Mother Cabrini Church, Shamokin.
Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Coal Township.
