SELINSGROVE — Robert E. Young, 85, of Isle of Que, passed away on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at SUN Home Hospice Care Center, Sunbury, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. Bob was a resident of Isle of Que for the past 25 years.
He was born May 21, 1928, at home in Northumberland, a son of the late Elmer R. and Mildred (Westbrook) Young. In 1950, he married the former Suzanne M. Derick, who survives.
He was a 1946 graduate of Northumberland High School and a 1950 graduate of Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y., with a bachelor of science degree in engineering.
He was employed as a general manager of electronics companies in Harrisburg and the Philadelphia area.
He was a member of Harrisburg Lodge 629, Free & Accepted Masons, the Harrisburg Consistory, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, the Harrisburg Zembo Shrine, the National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited and the Susquehanna River Waterfowlers Association and was a former member of the Susquehanna Brittany Club, Del Val Brittany Club and the Harrisburg Kennel Club.
Bob had a love for dogs. He was a breeder of Suzabob Brittanys for more than 30 years and sold pups all over the United States and Canada. He enjoyed field trials, boating, hunting and fishing and his monthly luncheons with his 1946 classmates.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Young Duke, of Lebanon, and Deborah Young Petty, of Northumberland; one granddaughter, Miranda Dagle Sandstrom, of Elizabethtown; one grandson, Jeffrey Duke, of Lebanon; one great-grandson, Derick Sandstrom; one sister and brother-in-law, Gladys Young Magill and John, of Danville; one sister-in-law, Romayne Gautsch Young, of Williamsport; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald O. Young.
At Bob’s request, there will be no calling hours or services.

Funeral arrangements are by the Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton.
