— KLINGERSTOWN — Arlene M. Brown, 89, formerly of 124 Main St., Klingerstown, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at ManorCare, Sunbury.

She was born April 25, 1924, in Klingerstown, a daughter of the late Vinnie (Klinger) Strohecker and Raymond Seiger and was raised by her grandparents, W.O. and Pearl Mable Klinger. She was married to Henry S. Brown, who preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 1994.

Arlene owned and operated Arlene Brown’s Beauty Shop, Klingerstown, for 50 years and previously was employed at Carl’s Store in Spring Glen, Boyer’s Butcher Shop, Klingerstown, and Dormar Manufacturing, Gratz.

She was a member of Salem Church of Rough and Ready, Klingerstown, and the Idella Rebekah Lodge 58, of Dorsife.

Arlene enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandsons and playing cards with friends.

She is survived by one daughter, Elaine Reed, of Wiconisco; one son, Lynn Brown, of East Pittsburgh; four grandchildren, Pastor Michael Reed, of Trafford, Michelle and her husband, John Rautzahn, of Williamstown, Matthew Brown and Samantha Brown; two great-grandsons, John Franklin and Joseph Rautzahn, of Williamstown; three half sisters, Faye Wilkinson, Mabel Thomas and Lucille Maurer; one half brother, Albert Strohecker Jr.; and one aunt, Eva Brown.

She was preceded by four half brothers, Marlin Klinger, Robert, Lawrence and Mark Strohecker; and one half sister, Alma “Peg” Bordner.

A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Salem Church of Rough and Ready, 11 Church Road, Klingerstown, followed by a celebration of life at 11 with her grandson, Pastor Michael Reed, officiating.

Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery.
