Lawrence A. “Larry” Williamson, 88, Marysville

— MARYSVILLE — Lawrence A. “Larry” Williamson, 88, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at the Golden Living Center-West Shore, Camp Hill.

He was born Aug. 20, 1925, in Stratford, Texas, a son of the late John R. and Grace (Thorton) Williamson. On Dec. 5, 1946, he married the former Beatrice D. Troup, who preceded him in death on Sept. 16, 2001.

Larry attended school at Prairie Grammar School in Roff, Okla. He joined the Army on June 13, 1945, serving during World War II, and was honorably discharged on April 23, 1947.

He was a truck driver employed by various local businesses and was a member of Teamsters Local Union 429.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Harrisburg.

Larry also was a member of American Legion Post 109, Mechanicsburg, and the Marysville Senior Center. He was a talented woodworker who enjoyed making pieces for others.

He is survived by three sons, Jerry Williamson, of Manheim, Larry Williamson, of York, and Donald Williamson, of Carlisle; four daughters, Patricia Williamson, of Dillsburg, Carolyn Thompson, of Marysville, Linda Slenker, of York, and Judy Williamson, of Mechanicsburg; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and his loving companion, Ida Zimmerman, of Marysville.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.

Friends and family may call from noon to 1:30 Friday at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland, followed by the funeral at 1:30 with the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey N. Cartwright officiating.

Burial with military honors accorded by American Legion Post 44, Northumberland, will be in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland.
