MILTON — Jay G. Balliet, 80, formerly of Mahoning Street, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at the Watsontown Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Jan. 2, 1933, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Clarence and Susan (Gharett) Balliet. He was married to the former Patricia M. Showers, who preceded him in death on Sept. 19, 2001.
Jay attended Milton schools.
He was employed by American Home Foods, Milton.
He was a member of Freedom Life Church, Lewisburg, and a member of the Eagles, Milton.
Jay enjoyed golf, bingo and Wii bowling at the Senior Action Center.
He is survived by four daughters, Judy C. Van Riper, of Milton, Donna J. Carl, of New Columbia, Vicki E. Bowers, of North Carolina, and Tina J. Shirk, of Mifflinburg; two brothers, Ray and Donald Balliet, both of Milton; one grandson whom he raised and his wife, Jay and Sally Dorman; other grandchildren, Janelle Johnson, Judy Gowin, Jeremy Waltman, Tony Yohe, Todd Yohe, Joseph Quick, Teanne Shirk, Garriet Shirk and Leanne Baker; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Balliet Jr.; one granddaughter, Berdina Van Riper; and one son-in-law, John Shirk.
Friends and relatives will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Tony Cruz officiating.
Burial will be in Presbyterian Cemetery, McEwensville.
