SUNBURY — Shirley (Patterson) Martin, 62, of 345 Race St., passed away at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at her home.
She was born May 21, 1951, in Spartanburg, S.C., a daughter of the late Joe and Jean Lee Patterson.
Shirley attended elementary school in Atlanta, Ga., and completed middle and high school in Hollywood, Fla.
For 30 years of her life, she was employed in the family business working and running the bingo game in Knoebel’s Amusement Park. She was later employed for five years with Patterson Block, Inc. After Patterson’s, she was employed at the Comfort Inn in Selinsgrove.
While living in Atlanta, she was a member of the Springdale Road First Baptist Church which is where she accepted Jesus.
Shirley was an independent, self reliant woman, very determined in everything she did. Although she had many friends, she was still a very private person. She was loved by many and will be missed.
She is survived by two brothers and sister-in-law, Mike Patterson and his companion, Debbie, of Georgia, and Dan and Pattie Patterson, of Catawissa; one sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Steve Eskew, of Villa Rica, Ga.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by one brother, David Patterson.
A memorial visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home, Ltd., 120 S. Market St., Shamokin, followed by the funeral at 11.
Burial will be held at a later date in Atlanta.
