DANVILLE — Robert K. Hoffman, 62, of Boyd Station Road, passed away on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at his home.
He was born Sept. 30, 1950, in Northumberland County, a son of the late David H. and Ruth E. (Swope) Hoffman. On July 3, 2002, he married the former Shannon R. West, who survives.
Bob was a 1968 graduate of Shikellamy High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Air Force from 1968 to 1975. He was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant.
He was a truck driver employed by CKC Trucking, Herndon.
He was a member of American Legion Post 624, of Mansfield, Texas, and the Washington Fire Company No. 2, Danville.
Bob was an avid golfer who especially liked playing at the former Cherokee Golf Course, Danville, which was owned and operated by his aunt and uncle. He also enjoyed spending time having coffee with his buddies, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Heidi J. and Bradley P. Hare, of Sunbury; one son, Robert W. “Rocky” Hoffman, of Mansfield, Texas; three grandchildren, Jacob B., Brenna J. and Camden P. Hare; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis and Gail Hoffman, of Northumberland, and Randy and Ralary Hoffman, of Drums; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Hoffman, and two brothers, Dean Hoffman and Gary Hoffman, in infancy.
Graveside services will be private in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington, with the Rev. Michael Cantine officiating.
