SUNBURY — John D. “Jack” Rebuck, 82, of Sunbury, passed away on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.
He was born June 6, 1931, in Sunbury, a son of the late Emmanuel J. and Irene (Schwalenberg) Rebuck. On July 15, 1951, he married Joyce E. Bohner, who survives.
Jack was a 1949 graduate of Sunbury High School and then went to Bloomsburg University for a year before serving his country in the Air Force.
He managed the family business, Rebuck Meats, in the Sunbury Market House for many years.
He was a life member of the Americus Hose Company, the Sunbury Elks Club and American Legion Post 201.
Jack was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying golf, hunting, fly fishing and going to camp at the Susquehannock Hunt Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children and their spouses, Robert J. Rebuck and wife Lucy Eisele, of Albuquerque, N.M., Susan R. and Robert Otway, of Carlisle, LuAnn Rebuck and husband Tom Fladmark, of Sunbury, Betsy L. and Mark Mingels, of East Bridgewater, Mass., and Jonathan D. Rebuck, of Brockton, Mass.; three grandchildren, Olivia Fladmark, Nicolette Mingels and Jocelyn Mingels; one brother, Robert L. Rebuck, of Sunbury; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Lawrence Rebuck.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home Inc., 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury.
His family will be gathering for a graveside service at a future date in Pomfret Manor Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Fangmann, of Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury, officiating.
