MIDDLEBURG — Louis G. Sycz Sr., 69, of Starlight Drive, passed away unexpectedly on Friday evening, Nov. 8, 2013, after being stricken at his work place.
He was born March 14, 1944, in Lancaster, a son of the late Louis G. Sr. and Mary (Hebden) Sycz. On Nov. 19, 1994, he married the former Darlene F. Hackenberg who survives.
Louis served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam era.
He had been employed at Interstate Trucking, Wood Mode, Kreamer, and retired from Susquehanna Bank. After his retirement he had worked at Bingaman & Son, Kreamer.
Louis’ passion in life was fishing. He also enjoyed attending flea markets, and providing transportation for his Amish/Mennonite friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Louis G. II and Shannon Sycz, of Lock Haven; two stepsons and their wives, James and Karen Furnier, of Lilbourn, Ga., and Timothy and Patricia Furnier, of Lancaster; three stepdaughters and their husbands, Tammy Harris, of Stone Mountain, Ga., Heather and David Comp, of Duncannon, and Kelly and David Broschart, of Sunbury; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Linda Auman, of Lancaster; one sister, Linda Souders, of Lititz.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Pope and Mick Fisher.
Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 8 with the Rev. Troy D. Kerstetter officiating.
After the funeral the Midd West Veterans Organization will accord military honors.
