SUNBURY — Timothy A. “Culpy” Culp, 54, of South Third Street, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at Sunbury Community Hospital.
He was born Aug. 24, 1958, in Shamokin, a son of William W. Culp, of Mississippi, and the late Betty Y. (Britton) Culp.
Tim attended Shikellamy High School and Milton High School and was a graduate of El Cajon High School in San Bernadino, Calif. He joined the Marine Corps, serving as a welder from 1976 to 1980. He did a 15-month tour in Okinawa and later was stationed at 29 Palms Marine Base, Calif. He returned to Pennsylvania in 1984.
He was employed by Strong Industries, Northumberland.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge 267, Sunbury, and several pool leagues, where he had taught others how to play.
Tim was avid NASCAR fan and especially liked to follow Jeff Gordon. He enjoyed bowling, shooting pool and playing poker with his many friends.
In addition to his father, he is survived by one brother, John W. Culp, of Northumberland; one sister and brother-in-law, Dianna L. and Todd A. Ruhl, of Northumberland; sister-in-law, Monique D. Culp, of Middleburg; four nieces, Stacia, Breann, Jona and Victoria; and one nephew, Corey.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
Contributions in Tim’s memory may be made to the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland, to help defray funeral costs.
