LEWISBURG — Regina Elizabeth Girio, 56, of Lewisburg, was welcomed into Heaven on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 9, 1956, in Williamsport, a daughter of Arthur and Liberata “Libby” (Testa) Girio, of Williamsport. She was married for 23 years to Douglas Winner, who survives.
Regina was a 1974 graduate of Williamsport High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in education from Lock Haven University and her master’s degree in reading from Bloomsburg University.
She was employed by the Williamsport Area School District as a learning support teacher for 30 years.
Regina was a member of the former Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Williamsport, and attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Lewisburg.
She enjoyed working outside in her garden and collecting thimbles. Her greatest passion was her children and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents and her loving husband, she is survived by three children, Kirsten, Blake and Lucas Girio Winner; four siblings, Antoinette “Annette” Girio, of Doylestown, Eva Girio, of Montoursville, George Girio, of South Williamsport, and Joseph Girio, of Montoursville; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, 18 Market St., Lewisburg, followed by a celebration of life at 5 with the Rev. Dr. James C. King officiating.
