SUNBURY — Walter J. Leschinskie Jr., 68, of Hallowing Run Road, passed away at SUN Home Hospice Center in Sunbury after a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 24, 1944, in Danville, a son of the late Walter H. and Gertrude (Krulock) Leschinskie. On April 1, 1967, he married the former Gloria M. Jablonski, but the joke was on him because she loved him from almost the moment she met him and will love him forever. He will also be forever loved and missed by their furry-kid Trixie, who survives.
Walter was a 1964 graduate of Kulpmont High and had attended Coal Township High School for the Vo-tech program.
Walter was employed for 30 years by AMP Inc., Selinsgrove. He also had a mechanical and auto body repair shop for many years, as well as a used car business.
He was a member of St. Monica Church, Sunbury, the Selinsgrove Moose, and the East Sunbury Hose Company.
Walter loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He and his wife also enjoyed traveling to Canada, London, the Caribbean, and going on cruises.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sisters-in-law and their spouses, Caroline and Ronald Morgan, of Mount Carmel, Frances Jablonski, of Harrisburg, and Cynthia and Jerry Evitts, of Northumberland; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph in 2004.
Friends will be received from 11 to 11:55 a.m. Monday at St. Monica Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon with the Rev. Fred Wangwe as celebrant.
Interment will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
In lieu of flowers, Gloria is requesting contributions in Walter’s memory to Mostly Mutts, 284 Little Mountain Road, Sunbury, PA 17801.
Arrangements are by the David T. Zweier Funeral Home, Inc., 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury.
