Lee A. Hagenbuch Jr., 64, Milton

MILTON — Lee A. Hagenbuch Jr., 64, of Cardinal Drive, passed away Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at Geisinger Medical Center following a courageous four-year battle with leukemia that he had treated at both Geisinger Medical Center in Danville and Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore.

He was born Dec. 13, 1947, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Lee A. Sr. and Lera Jane (Laidacker) Hagenbuch. On Oct. 10, 1986, he married Melitta Kusin Reed, and they had a marital union of 26 years.

Following graduation from Warrior Run High School in 1965, Lee entered Mansfield State College, graduating in June 1969 with a bachelor of science degree in social studies, secondary education.

In 1970, he began his career as an automobile salesman at the former John Powell Chevrolet in Williamsport, later becoming parts manager. In 1976, he started selling automobiles at Spangler Motors, Milton, where he worked for more than 35 years until retiring in 2010 due to his illness.

He was a 51-year member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Turbotville, having served with the disaster relief team, was a past president of the former Luther League and sang in the church choir. He was a member of Watsontown Lodge 401, Free & Accepted Masons, since 1976 and previously was a member of the Williamsport Corvette Club and the Sun Corvette of Lewisburg.

He especially liked working outdoors, woodworking, painting and automotive history. He also enjoyed maintaining his antique Corvette and earlier was an avid stereophile and dabbled in his family’s genealogy. He also enjoyed spending time with his stepchildren and grandchildren.

Surviving, besides his wife, are three stepchildren, Daphine Fritz and husband Jason, Deitré Loss and husband Jeffrey and Dwayne Reed and wife Shayne, all of Mifflinburg; seven stepgrandchildren, Bryana and Brooke Loss, Madison, Cora and Clayton Reed and Jonathan and Sarah Fritz, all of Mifflinburg; one brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Gayle Hagenbuch, of Watsontown, and their children, Stuart and his sons, Trevin and Teagan, Lindsay and Corey Dufrene and children, Caden, Claire and Sophie, all of Turbotville, and Jenna and Jake Fisher, of Lancaster; three stepsisters, Pat French and husband Larry, Linda Hagenbuch and Susan Fidler and husband Shane; a brother-in-law, Viktor Kusin and friend Heidi, of Sunbury, and his son, David Kusin, daughter, Wendy Allabaugh and husband Charles, of Sunbury, and daughter, Dr. Melissa Trego, of Philadelphia; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothea Brown, of Milton, her children, Gregory and Dr. Kristina Brown, and Mathilde Mahon, of Lewisburg, and her daughter, Erica and husband, Dean Hixson, and daughters, Mia, Rylee and Kyrie.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, R. Larue Hagenbuch.

Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a Masonic service at 5:30 by Watsontown Lodge 401, at the Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville, and from noon to 1 Saturday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 39 Paradise St., Turbotville, where the funeral will be held at 1 with the Rev. Erwin C. Roux, his pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in Turbotville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory be made to either Zion Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 277, Turbotville, PA 17772, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 800 Corporate Circle, Suite 100, Harrisburg PA 17110.
