David L. Kratzer, 70, New Columbia

— NEW COLUMBIA — David L. Kratzer, 70, of 706 Creek Road, passed away at 6:24 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, in Nottingham Village, Northumberland.

He was born Oct. 7, 1941, in Winfield, a son of Nora Catherine (Heintzelman) Kratzer Reich, of Middleburg, and the late Lester Kratzer. On Sept. 2, 1961, he married the former Jane L. Trego, who survives.

David had farmed and retired in 2000 after 32 years of service from Chef Boy-Ar-Dee, Milton.

He was a member of Hummel’s United Methodist Church, Middleburg, and a member of the Iron Club, Mifflinburg.

David loved to farm and spend time at his cabin in Potter County. He also enjoyed hunting.

In addition to his wife of 50 years and his mother, he is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Linda A. and Todd Wagner, of Beavertown, Brenda L. Kratzer, of Camp Hill, and Lisa M. Kratzer and her companion, Dan Tosheff, of Harrisburg; five grandchildren, Lonni Wagner, of Blue Bell, Trevor Wagner, of Kutztown University, Dylan White, of Villanova University, Monica Urich, of West Virginia University, and Shannon Urich, of Camp Hill; one sister and brother-in-law, Miriam and Kenneth Barner, of Millerstown; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Gloria Kratzer, of Middleburg, and Richard and Bonnie Kratzer, of Coudersport; his mother-in-law, Betty Trego, of West Milton, the Trego brothers-in-law and their spouses, Dave and Bernice Trego and Tom and Daria Trego, all of Juneau, Alaska, Charles and Beverly Trego, of Northumberland; and two sisters-in-law, Peggy and Perry Eroh, of Northumberland, and Susan Longenderfer, of Sunbury.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Harvey Kratzer, and his stepfather, Marvin Reich.

Friends and family will be received from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Hummel’s United Methodist Church, Oak Lane, Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 3 with Pastor Carvel K. May officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Contributions in David’s memory may be made to Hummel’s United Methodist Church.

Funeral arrangements are by the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg.
