LEWISBURG — Thelma Ora Showver, 98, of 233 South Derr Drive, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at her home.
She was born Jan. 31, 1914, in Shamokin Dam, a daughter of the late William and Ruby (Klase) Wilhour. On July 5, 1933, she married Clarence G. Showver. Together they celebrated 75 years of marriage until his death on Nov. 11, 2008.
Earlier in life, Thelma ran the College Park Motel and Restaurant with her husband. She later worked as a housekeeper at Bucknell University.
She was an active member of the Crossroads Church of the Nazarene, Lewisburg, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and board member.
Thelma loved spending time socializing with her family and friends, especially during the holidays and at family functions.
Surviving are four sons and two daughters-in-law, Earl and Lois Showver, of York Haven, Larry and Jean Showver, of Lewisburg, Max Showver, of Florida, and Phillip Showver, of Mount Carmel; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by five brothers, Darlington, Andy, Roy, Harry and Frank Wilhour; and four sisters, Mildred Zimmerman, Evelyn Broscious, Nellie Troutman and Hazel Kerstetter.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg, where the funeral will be held at 11 with her grandson-in-law, the Rev. Kevin T. Kelley, chaplain of the Bureau of Prisons, officiating.
Burial will follow in Lewisburg Cemetery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to Evangelical Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
