MIDDLEBURG — Richard D. Snook, 63, of Rainbow Drive, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at his home.
He was born Feb. 3, 1949, in Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., a son of the late John D. and Virginia (Chumrik) Snook. On Aug. 17, 1985, he married the former Phyllis M. LoMaglio, who survives.
Richard was a graduate of the Cold Spring Harbor High School and received a bachelors degree from New York Tech.
He retired as a claims manager for Prudential Insurance, Melville, N.Y.
He was a member of the Kreamer Sportsmen Club and was very active in Habitat for Humanity, giving much of his time to the organization and served as a construction supervisor.
Richard enjoyed sailing, and had owned his own sailboat since the age of five. He also enjoyed photography and gardening.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a cousin, Arlene Sakmar, of Glenshaw.
A viewing will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 8.
Burial will be on Wednesday in the Huntington Rural Cemetery, Huntington, N.Y.
