Margaret E. Snyder, 90, Herndon

— HERNDON — Margaret E. Snyder, 90, of Herndon, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 12, 2013, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg.

She was born May 30, 1922, in Herndon, a daughter of the late Ray and Edith (Dietz) Bordner. On Aug. 19, 1940, she married Lee D.T. Snyder, who preceded her in death on June 14, 1989, after 49 years of marriage.

Margaret was a graduate of Herndon High School.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Herndon, where she had served on the church council and was Sunday school superintendent. She was a member of Chapter 266, Order of Eastern Star, Sunbury, where she was past matron and served as Pennsylvania state grand officer. She also was a member of the White Shrine, where she held numerous offices, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Margaret enjoyed collecting miniatures, working on doll houses, reading and playing cards. She will be remembered for her cooking and baking for family and friends and entertaining. The great joys of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Richard Zerbe, of Enola, Pat and David Eyster, of Herndon, and Pam and Curt Dreibelbis, of Mifflintown; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Jeff and Tammy Zerbe, Todd Eyster, Troy and Audra Eyster, Julie and Bill Houdeshell, Tricia and Jason Zerbe, Mark Dreibelbis and Ellen Keene, and Adam and Aileen Dreibelbis; 12 great-grandchildren, Zack Zerbe, Brandin and Destinie Morrow, Nathan and Avery Putt, Alex and Tori Houdeshell, Lydia and Alaina Eyster, Paige and Chase Zerbe and Hannah Dreibelbis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, John Bordner, and two sisters, Jean Border and a sister in infancy.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Herndon, followed by a memorial service at 4 with the Rev. Frederick H. Faust officiating, assisted by Vicar Rick White.

The committal will be private.
