— GASTONIA, N.C. — Helen Elizabeth (Froneberger) Rhyne, 85, of Gastonia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012.

She was born in Gastonia, a daughter of the late Mabelle (Rhyne) and David Loy Froneberger.

A graduate of Gastonia High School, Helen worked in several capacities including, a seamstress with Butler and Stowe, CPA, and as a secretary at Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church.

As a member of Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church, Helen was involved with the United Methodist Women as well as a Sunday school and Vacation Bible school teacher. Among her hobbies, she enjoyed travelling, cooking, sewing, spending time with her family and time at Oak Island. She was also active in the Lucile Tatum Home Extension Group.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Lydia and Bob Carter and David and Sandi Rhyne, all of Gastonia, Wanda and Greg Gordon, of East Bend, and Darren and Tammy Rhyne, of Mifflinburg, Pa.; grandchildren and spouses, Katie and Mitch Allen, of Gastonia, Sara and Todd Pitts, of Drexel, Bradley Rhyne, of Charlotte and fiancé, Hannah Jo McDaniel, of Belmont, Rachel and Mauricio Flores, of Durham, Ashley Kulp, Travis Kulp and Paige Rhyne, all of Mifflinburg; great-grandchildren, Aubree Allen and Lathan Allen, both of Gastonia, and Willow Nogle, of Mifflinburg; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Naomi Froneberger, of Gastonia, Bobby and Betty Froneberger, of Deer Park, Texas, LaVohn Frye, of Matthews, and Bobbie Frances Froneberger, of Lansing; sisters and brothers-in-law, Midge and Bob Caudle, of Charlotte, and Doris and Bill Gore, of Gastonia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Rhyne, whom she married on Dec. 23, 1945; and one brother, William Froneberger.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. Eric Reece, the Rev. Dr. Greg Gordon and the Rev. Andrew Miller, officiating.

Burial will follow in Gaston Memorial Park.
