MILLMONT -- Desiree Ann Knechel, 23, of 712 Stover Road, entered into rest at 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, in the Altoona Regional Hospital trauma unit, due to injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Wednesday morning in Spring Mills.
She was born Sept. 24, 1984, in Lewisburg, the daughter of Connie M. Knechel and J.R. Keister of Millmont.
Desiree was a 2003 graduate of Mifflinburg Area High School, where she participated in the Tri-Hi-Y, French club, softball, basketball, student government and band.
She attended Bloomsburg University for two years and graduated in 2007 from the Central Susquehanna Career Center Practical Nursing Program, Sunbury.
Desiree was employed at Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont, as a licensed practical nurse.
She enjoyed fishing with her friends and family, camping and loved animals, especially her cats. Desiree was deeply loved by all of her family.
Surviving, in addition to her mother and stepfather, are one brother, Jacob D. Moyer of Laurelton; one stepbrother, Matthew E. Keister and his wife Ashley of Port Ann; one stepsister, Laurie A. and fiance Patrick Woodling of Millmont; grandmother, Shirley Walter of Millmont; grandfather, Ray H. Knechel of Danville; great-grandmother, Mildred Long of Millmont; uncle, David R. Knechel; aunt, Crystal Kaler; and niece, Destiny R. Keister, all of Millmont.
There will be no public viewing. Visitors may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at Christ's United Lutheran Church, 13765 Old Turnpike Road, Millmont, where a service celebrating Desiree's life will be conducted at 4 with the Rev. Richard L. DeVett officiating.
Funeral arrangements are by the Roupp Funeral Home Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg.
