Craig E. Knopp, 48, Muncy

MUNCY -- Craig E. Knopp, 48, of Five Points Road, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at his home following an 8 1/2-month battle with cancer.

He was born May 11, 1961, in Muncy, a son of Leon I. and Judy E. (Barrett) Knopp, of Muncy. On May 16, 1987, he married the former Brenda K. Bennett, and they celebrated 22 years of marriage.

Craig was a 1979 graduate of Warrior Run High School and had been employed by Conway Enterprises, New Columbia, for the past 10 years. An ASE-certified auto mechanic, he previously worked at Gibb's Pontiac, Hughesville, and earlier at Twin Hills Oldsmobile.

Craig attended Christ Wesleyan Church, Milton.

He was an avid Mopar muscle car enthusiast and could build just about anything from scrap materials. His most recent project was a gas-powered wheelchair he built to assist him during his illness.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he is survived by three sons, Staff Sgt. Shawn M. Knopp, serving with the Army Special Forces at Fort Bragg, N.C., Kyle E. and Aaron W. Knopp, both at home; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clinton E. and Barbara Knopp and Todd E. and Tracy Knopp, all of Muncy; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Denise M. and Stephen Thomas, of Bel Air, Md., and Dina G. and Miles Wilson, of Watsontown.

Friends are invited to call from 9 to noon Saturday at Christ Wesleyan Church, 363 Stamm Road, Milton, where the funeral will be conducted at noon with Pastor Bill Miller officiating. Family and friends are invited to a fellowship meal at the church immediately following the service.

The family suggests contributions in his memory be made to the Knopp Family Fund, Northumberland County Schools Federal Credit Union, P.O. Box 455, 603 Center St., Milton, PA 17847-0455, which has been established to benefit Craig's sons.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brooks Funeral Home, Turbotville.
