Downed power lines ignite Bucks County gas line fire

JAMISON (AP) _ Emergency workers are cleaning up after a gas line fire that burned for hours in Bucks County's Warwick Township.

The fire started during Monday's storm. An electrical surge from power lines and a transformer knocked down by a falling tree melted the buried line and ignited the gas.

The six-inch plastic underground line was repaired by midday. But Guinea Lane remained closed while Peco, Verizon and Comcast crews worked to repair damaged lines.

Township Police Sgt. Richard Vona says the road is likely to remain closed through the Tuesday morning rush hour.
