Man charged with running over wife with car

Associated Press

UNIONTOWN — A southwestern Pennsylvania man is jailed on a charge of criminal homicide because a prosecutor says he ran over his wife after learning she planned to leave him.

Forty-four-year-old Ronald Higinbotham, of Brownsville, declined comment after his arrest Wednesday.

State police say 30-year-old Carmen Higinbotham was pronounced dead early Sunday, a short time after her husband allegedly ran over her on Route 40.

Fayette County District Attorney Nancy Vernon says the couple were having marital problems and friends say the woman planned to leave her husband.

Police say Ronald Higinbotham told them he ran over his wife after she jumped from the moving car during an argument and didn't stop to help her because he was afraid.
