Pennsylvania lobbyist has court appearance

WASHINGTON (AP) _ A lobbyist with ties to former Pennsylvania congressman Curt Weldon is scheduled to enter a plea Friday in federal court in Washington.

Cecilia Grimes of suburban Philadelphia has been charged with destroying evidence related to an FBI investigation into Weldon.

Authorities have said she threw her Blackberry into the trash at a fast-food restaurant to keep the FBI from finding it. She's also alleged to have thrown away other evidence. She's said in a statement she's remorseful.

Weldon lost his seat in 2006. Court documents say federal authorities have been looking into whether he agreed to help Grimes by supporting appropriations requests from her lobbying firm.
