MIFFLINBURG — The 17th annual Snowfest at R. B. Winter State Park will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10. Demonstrations, crafts, games, and basic instruction in various outdoor recreational activities are planned for children and adults.
Planned activities and events include: cross country skiing (Brad Bubb Rentals), ice skating, snow shoeing, icefishing, historic art of ice harvesting, 3.5 mile race (Mid Penn Trail Blazers), snowmobile safety (Sugar Valley Snow Riders), winter mountain biking (Campus Cycle), Bearly Born a look at black bear natural history, Broomball, ice carving demonstrations (Victoria House), winter search and rescue using dogs (STRIKE), silent auction, kids crafts and story hour, winter birds and bird feeding, food concession, fly tying (Trout Unlimited), dsplays by local environmental organizations, and Smokey Bear will be visiting.
A finalized schedule of activities will be available at the Halfway Run Environmental Learning Center on the day of the event. Several activities are snow or ice dependent and may be cancelled or changed if conditions are unsafe are not favorable to the event.
Snowmobile trail-head parking will be closed to accommodate Snowfest visitors.
