DANVILLE — Volunteers are needed to sumo wrestle for a good cause.
Money raised from sumo wrestling will go to help with hotel and transportation costs for Challenger baseball players and their families to the Worldwide Challenger Jamboree Mother’s Day Weekend in Norfolk, Va.
Anyone who can participate should call Seibert at 441-0435. Sumo suits will be provided.
This is the fourth year for the sumo event. Doors open at 5 p.m. and wrestling starts at 6 p.m. April 19 in the Danville Area High School gym.
Karen Gronsky School of Danville of Danville will present a half-time show. Some Challenger players take classes at her dance studio.
Other events will include a bake sale, a 50/50 drawing, a Chinese auction and door prizes which will include Sheetz coupon books.
Tom Morgan, of Radio Station WHLM, will serve as master of ceremonies. He wrestled the first year of their fundraiser.
Forty-two people plan to make the trip this year. Players come from throughout the region including areas covering north of Berwick, Milton, Sunbury and Danville.
