MIFFLINBURG -- The Mifflinburg Intermediate School has announced the recipients of the March ASPIRES award which is sponsored by the Mifflinburg Kiwanis Club.
According to Principal Scott Zimmerman, this award recognizes students that have displayed anti-bullying behaviors in that they are respectful, kind, include everyone, accept differences and strive for school success. Each student will receive a certificate and cash award at the school’s end-of-the-year assembly.
Jenna Haines, daughter of Michael and Angie Haines and a student in Mrs. Sheesley’s homeroom, is the third grade honoree. Her favorite class is gym. She enjoys art and visiting her cousins. Outside of school, she is active in gymnastics, the swim team and basketball. She hopes to become an artist someday.
The fourth grade recipient is Kaylin Foss, daughter of Wendy and Dan Foss. Her favorite class is music. Kaylin likes to ride her bike, read and play board games. She is involved in soccer, tap and ballet, chorus (in the school musical) and collects Boyd’s Bears. Kaylin hopes to become a pediatrician.
Melody Swanger, a fifth grader in Mrs. Hoffman’s room and daughter of Jessica Maines and Derek Swanger, notes that science is her favorite subject. She likes to swim and go to the park. She is involved in band, where she plays the French horn, the Art Club and her church youth group. Melody hopes to become a marine biologist.
