The American Cancer Society is looking for volunteer drivers for its “Road to Recovery” program. This free program helps bring those with cancer to and from their life-saving treatments.
There will be a training on June 13, at 10 a.m., for all interested volunteers.
“We are looking for volunteers with a little bit of time to spare, and just generally want to help those in their community,” said Dawn Spuesens, American Cancer Society, Inc.
Volunteers can be retirees, teachers off for the summer, part-time workers, or anyone who can spare time for the program. A current driver’s license, insurance and training are required.
Volunteers are especially needed from Columbia and Montour counties, as well as the Shamokin, Mount Carmel region. Volunteers may use their own vehicles or Society vehicles.
Those interested can call Dawn Spuesens at (570) 884-1027 or email her at Dawn.Spuesens@cancer.org. Register for the training by June 10.
