Workabilities Clubhouse Celebrates Five Year Anniversary

— SUNBURY — Workabilities Clubhouse, a community services group program, is celebrating its five year anniversary with an open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 21 at 300 N. Fifth St., Sunbury.

The open house will feature a red carpet theme, Clubhouse tours, an employer recognition award presentation, appetizers and treats prepared by Workabilities Clubhouse members and other activities throughout the day.

Workabilities Clubhouse is a mental health community that empowers people to reach their fullest potential by working together to accomplish their goals. As with most Clubhouses, Workabilities believes that work is an essential component to a person’s mental health recovery. Work gives people self-confidence and independence in all aspects of life to become essential members in their communities. Clubhouse provides members with opportunities to build work skills in the Club and to transition those skills to employment in the community.

Workabilities Clubhouse opened in 2009. In that time, the Clubhouse has served over 200 members in and around Northumberland County. Workabilities Clubhouse currently has an active membership of approximately 80 people and an average daily attendance of 25. Workabilities Clubhouse is a member of the Pennsylvania Clubhouse Coalition and is one of over 300 Clubhouses in the world certified by Clubhouse international.
